After
more than fifteen years in the field of chemical dependency,
I have seriously assessed the increased need for substance
abuse treatment and subsequent lack there of. Although these
trends of need and abuse are macro meaning national and international
in scope, my research focused on their effects on the micro
levels of the Washington DC metropolitan area and more specifically
Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. I have witness various
trends of use and abuse and shifts from post Vietnam and
the
influx of heroin use and abuse to the intricate marketing
strategies of the south American cartels and crack cocaine.
A new resurgence of PCP along with designer and date rape
drugs have become drugs of choice among our youth due to
marketing
strategies targeting various demographic areas. And of course
alcohol, a main staple of abuse now being used in conjunction
with prescription pain and anti anxiety medication. This
documented
increase and need has proven to be quite formidable for already
burdened treatment service delivery systems.
It has been my personal treatment philosophy to combine and
utilized established treatment modalities with person centered
approaches. The eclectic approach I incorporate is named “Each
One Teach One.” It utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy in
conjunction with personality assessment approaches. This treatment
modality addresses the personality disorder so prevalent with
substance abusers and highlights insight cognitively, which
in turn addresses the behavior. This treatment approach is
interwoven with the 12-step philosophy, thus Each One Teach
One. It is through this philosophy and its time honored success
that I proposed and founded a new treatment service.
It is my pleasure to introduce Allied
Addiction Services, LLC, an outpatient treatment service. Our mission
is to champion the courageous efforts of individuals who seek
freedom from active addiction. We are a holistic treatment
facility and service that treats this malady from a wrap around
approach. We provide physical and psychiatric evaluation,
mental health and inpatient detoxification referrals, individual
and group therapy, DWI DUI prevention counseling and treatment.
We have locations in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
